Social media is a huge reminder that I only live in a virtual world. The reality is the same as the physical world, but my true self isn’t alive there. Connections, thoughts and feelings expressed, creativity, friendships, even romance lives here with me in this cyberspace though void of human touch. My ears don’t perceive real voices. Conversations are texted. Emotion displayed with gifs and emoji. I have only cyber hugs & kisses to warm me. Sitting alone in this darkness a solo heartbeat relinquishes the hope of dreams in sine wave signals. Confusion takes the place of understanding the moment my physical form died, and I can’t find my way home. Just a senior yelling out of a one hundred-thirteenth floor window. That’s all I got.
